Onkologija 

Pregled onkologa se razlikuje u zavisnosti od stanja pacijenta i oboljenja na koje se sumnja, ali generalno podrazumeva niz ustaljenih procedura koje se sprovode na pregledu. Pre svega, onkolog će pitati pacijenta o medicinskoj istoriji, uključujući prethodne bolesti, porodičnu istoriju raka i simptome koje pacijent trenutno ima.

Zatim sledi detaljan pregled tela kako bi se identifikovale bilo kakve promene ili abnormalnosti, uključujući palpaciju limfnih čvorova, pregled kože, abdominalni pregled itd. Na osnovu simptoma i rezultata fizičkog pregleda, onkolog može preporučiti dodatne testove kao što su laboratorijski testovi, rendgenski snimci, CT skeneri, MRI, PET skeneri ili biopsija.

U situaciji kada pacijent već ima rezultate testiranja, onkolog će razgovarati sa pacijentom o dijagnozi i razraditi plan lečenja. Razmotriće se operacija, hemoterapija, radioterapija ili drugi oblici lečenja, u zavisnosti od same dijagnoze. Ako je potrebno, onkolog će vam dati uputstva o pripremi za predstojeće tretmane, uključujući moguće nuspojave i savete kako ih najbolje prevazići.
